So there was realistically no way I wasn't signing up for [community profile] hc_bingo, especially since there was universal amnesty for my utter failure in round 3. (Not that it was a total failure - Contingencies and Guide You Home both came from that card - but I never made a bingo and I completely forgot about amnesty. /o\)

So, let's look at the new card, shall we?

My hc_bingo card )

Plottings and Musings )

Maybe I'll see what square wins out for the first fic and put up a poll. That's what I did for kink_bingo two rounds ago, and that's the round I actually managed to make a bingo.

(Speaking of kink_bingo, there will be fic this weekend because I have to post something for that before amnesty ends on Monday. /o\ The last part of the DVD meme should also go up this by then, too.)

It's been a while! How goes all of you?
misachan: (Clint)
OH HEY GUYS IT'S PORN BATTLE TIME AGAIN! Or prompt time, anyway. Every year I make plans to do thid and every time I fail, but this time will be different! Porn Battle is an especially good excuse to give smaller fandoms and rare ships some play - I know I submitted some rare pairs in with my usual suspects.(Anything to entice someone to write some John/Bill/Ellen! And I'll have to leave some more, since I just realized forgot to prompt any Dean/Cas/Lisa, which cannot stand.)

(True Story: I first got the idea for Take The Wheel by perusing battle prompts - someone had prompted "Dean/Jimmy, constellation" and my brain went "Ooh. How would that go?" That led to the scene were Dean and Jimmy are looking at the stars, which led to how they got out to that side of the road, and the rest of the plot started to fall into place from there.

It's also [profile] spn_j2_bigbang time again! Writer's sign-up and Artist's sign-up. I'm already in there, so join me! Exit Wounds sequel or bust in 2013!

Because three things make a post, there is a new play on Broadway called Picnic.

Sebastian "Bucky Barnes" Stan is in it.

Looking like this.

You're welcome, internets! (and thanks to [personal profile] musesfool for posting the pretty in the first place.)
misachan: (Bingo)
I just really like bingo challenges, you guys. (Despite my what could charitably be called my lack of success with them so far this year.) Which brings us to [community profile] trope_bingo!

Cut for card. )

Dunno how I feel about this one yet. A plan of attack isn't leaping out at me, so I guess I'll see which square I fill first and then go from there. (Although the "huddle for warmth" square dovetails nicely with the hypothermia square on my [community profile] hc_bingo card. A two-fer!)

(And it's a little alarming how many of these I've already written.:)

So I'm most of the way through the first season of Ultimate Spider-Man and guys, I really want all of you to watch this show (streaming on Netflix!) so we can all talk about its awesomeness. I started watching because Coulson is a supporting character (he's principal of Peter's high school! Or undercover as one, anyway, and watching him "go native" in the role as Fury puts it is a joy) I never expected to fall for the show as hard as I have. It's basically an adorable high school AU with some of my favorite Marvel characters who rarely get this much play. Even Fury is adorable. I'd forgotten how much I like Spider-Man when he's not going around making deals with Mephisto. And the team! I love the team. Even Nova.:) But Ava! And MJ! Harry and Norman! I want to draw hearts all over them all.

And the show just reminds me of how hard I ship Danny Rand/Luke Cage in 616 continuity. I still have some half-written Danny/Luke fic lurking around on my hard drive and I want to read ALL of the cute fumbling high school shenanigans Danny/Luke Ultimate Spider-Man fic there could possibly be. I'm not sure how I would approach writing fic for this show, though; Peter's voice is so strong - he frequently breaks and talks to the audience, for example - that I feel like it would almost have to be first person to feel right, and I don't know how to make that work with a story about Danny/Luke hijinks.

Also, there's an episode with Captain America where he calls Coulson "Phil" and the poor guy almost gets the vapors. (It's clearly a separate continuity from the MCU, so the movie drama never happened.) You know you want to see that.

(I'd also settle for fic where Clint and Natasha drop in on Phil at "work" and make his life miserable.:)

misachan: (headdesk)
So, I um...may have signed up for Round 3 of [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia. /o\ I blame how competitive I get with claims.

So it's time for a bookkeeping post, just so I have all the due dates for the holiday exchanges or what have you I've signed up for or will sign up for shortly rolling up in Nov/Dec nice and orderly and in once place.

[livejournal.com profile] cc_exchange: 1K minimum, due Dec. 5th
[livejournal.com profile] deancas_xmas: 1500 minimum, due Dec. 3rd
[livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia: 5K minimum, due Dec. 8th
Yuletide: 1K minimum, due Dec 22nd

It'll be fun to see what those word counts actually wind up clocking in as. Kind of betting higher than the minimums, especially since I don't have the exchange assignments yet.:)
misachan: (chibi dean/cas)
Before getting to the pimptastic part of our programming, [livejournal.com profile] onetrickyangel podficced Celebrations and Deliver Me From Evil!. Eeeeee! Listen here! *twirls*

Sign-ups close on the 14th and there are some excellent prompts in there already. Sign up so I can write fic for you! (potentially, anyway!:)

The Dean/Castiel Secret Santa Exchange
Give the gift of love this Christmas!

EEEEEEEE! There was worry over whether this would happen this year and I'm so happy it is. Sign up so I can write fics for you!

And finally, for anyone who missed it earlier in the week:

Fill! Prompt! Love!

And for sitting through all that, from the AU My Fic Meme (or as I'm calling it, the "Hit Cas with sticks meme") for [livejournal.com profile] teamabodo, who wanted Dean's worst case scenario from You Have Twelve New Messages to be true:

This time it takes eight minutes.... )

misachan: (Agent Coulson: Badass)
Taking a quick break to let you know you should all sign up for this and make me the happiest of pandas:

*whooshes back to Word Cave*
misachan: (Chap 7 icon)
So I bowed to the inevitable and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang - I'd decided to wait until the art reveals in an obviously futile attempt to NOT sign up for All The Things, but we can all see how that worked out. I've got my five - well, four, really - so now there's only the wait until claiming. If I actually get my first choice I might need to hire some bodyguards because I can already tell people will be shedding blood over it.

Eh. At least I'll be up at 3AM on a weekend this time, instead of, y'know, a Wednesday.:)

I am trying to break my horrifying writer's block with an awesome new meme! I'm gonna close it at...I don't know, sometime tonight, so jump in while you can!

Also, you all are MEAN. So mean to poor Cas. So much meaner than I am! No one gets to complain next time I write dark!fic, that's all I'm saying.:)
misachan: (Nat is unamused)
So I have signed up for more things. Yes, I know. I know. But only one of them is a big bang!

Thing #1!

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

This is a challenge where you pick a topic and natter on about it for 100 entries, no deadlines, no word count. It's well timed, because I received the Mystery Classics 100 Movie Pack for my birthday and had planned to watch and review my way through them all anyway. Serendipity! (even though there's a fair number of Nigel Bruce-playing-Watson Sherlock Holmes in the mix, so expect some whining from me when I get there.)

Thing #2

[livejournal.com profile] avengers_xbb author/artist sign ups open

This is not my fault. [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner and I were talking about this over twitter and since she's dived headfirst into Teen Wolf she was going back and forth on whether to write werewolf!Clint, so because I'm the worst sort of life ruiner I told her that if she signed up I would write angel!Clint. And she took me up on it!

So I suppose it is my fault. But guys, seriously, the min word count is 5K. 5K! Isn't that adorable?

On the subject of things I've signed up for in the past, I posted my [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia fic Spiral on Wednesday! *throws confetti* Now I can dive into everyone else without psyching myself out! Expect a gushing rec post shortly.

And people seem to like it, which is a big relief. I've been enjoying seeing the different ways people are interpreting the ending, which is purposefully ambiguous - obviously I know what I intend that last line to mean, but that's really not as important as what gets taken away from it, you know?

(Although because more than one person's asked, I can't write a coda to make the ending happy. It's dystopia. There is no happy.)

Hey, you know how in Iron Man 2 Coulson loses track of Tony, and when Tony asks him what was up with that he says, "I was doing stuff"? "Stuff" should actually translate to "Clint on your leather couch." Especially if Nat calls them after that scene where Tony surprises her at the office all, "Both of you. FOCUS. I expect better from you. Well, from one of you."

Someone should write that.
misachan: (Agent Coulson: Badass)
So I bowed to peer pressure (and also because I missed it last year and have been kicking myself) and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo.

Behold my card! )

This runs until January so it's super low pressure, and also I pulled hypothermia. Bwahaha.
misachan: (BAMFCas)
So I went and signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_gen_bigbang (minibang version) after all because willpower, it's something I do not have. It's wee-chesters with a TFW twist - a monster that attacked Sam and Dean when they were children, one that can only be perceived and defeated by children, comes for them again in their dreams. Hopefully I can stretch a nightmare to 5K.

So, now with that done, let's have another round of Overcommitment Theater!

[livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang
Final draft due date: May 25th
Status: Back from beta, working through edits.

[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang
Posting date: July 10th
Status: In the final stages of polishing to make it ready to send to betareading.

[livejournal.com profile] deancasbigbang
Due date: August 15th
Status: Still trying to figure out what happens between two plot points in the last act. Real work begins June 1st. (whooo!)

[livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia
Due date: June 23rd
Status: Fic is started and plotted out. Hopeful the idea has 5K in it, because I'm terrible at judging that kind of thing.

Avengers/SPN Crossover
Posting Date: June 2nd (for Reasons!:)
Status: About 2K in, plotted out. Coulson Is Unhappy.:)

[livejournal.com profile] spn_gen_bigbang
Due date: July 9th
Status: Idea is had?
misachan: (Agent Coulson: Badass)
So there I was, innocently checking my twitter feed when this happened:

@morganoconner: I need fic where Clint makes a deal with a crossroads demon. Someone should write this right now. *eyes feed*

Then I stupidly, stupidly reply:

@Gambling4Kitten: @morganocconner: Yeeees. Clint can't deal with the guilt over what went down that he decided that's the way to fix it. (yes, my grammar is always that awesome.)

@morganoconner: @Gambling4Kitten: YES PLEASE OMG NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. *____*

@Gambling4Kitten: @morganoconner: Because with everything he's done in his life he's going to hell anyway. His fault good people died. Red in his ledger.

@morganoconner: @Gambling4Kitten: YES. YESYESYESYESYES OMG EXACTLY. ksrjgskfgskugfskdjhgskdufgshdj

So now I have 750 words of crossover and have no idea where I'm going with this, except that it'll probably require me researching Asgardians. BECAUSE I DIDN'T JUST SIGN UP FOR A CHALLENGE OR ANYTHING. And if needs to be done by June 2nd because REASONS.:)

(Although this probably answers the question of whether I'll claim another dystopia piece.:)
misachan: (2014)
So it looks like there might be another round of claiming for [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia, since as always there were more writers than there was art, and I am reeeaaaaaly fighting the urge to get in on that because it would let me use the 2014!verse bunny I thought I would have to save until the next round. It helps that obviously people who didn't get to claim would go first in round two and the piece I'd want would almost certainly go right away.

As far as the round that actually did happen, I got my first choice and have already started on the story - and by that I mean I have maybe ten words, but that's a start! Technically!

(As evidence for how hyped I was for this, I set my alarm this morning but mistakenly set it for 7:30 PM instead of AM and I STILL jolted awake at 8. I was so relieved my piece was still there by the time I got done flailing around and turned my laptop on.)
misachan: (bloody Cas)

We invite you to [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia, a Dean/Castiel and Jensen/Misha-centric fanwork challenge community inspired by the likes of j2_everafter and dc_everafter – but with a dark twist. Rather than focusing on true love, happy endings, and fluff, [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia is all about reveling in dark!fic tropes and endings where things aren't quite so neatly resolved. If it might belong in a nightmare, then it has a place here.

Sign ups are currently ongoing for ROUND TWO, our first themed round. The theme of this round is the REVERSE-BANG FORMAT, where artists submit things first and have stories written based on their work.

I couldn't get in on the first round (the sadness!), but now there's a round two and it's a REVERSEBANG!

Artist friends! Sign up so we can write stories for you! It will be awesome!

Meme responses! (From the Tell me about a story I haven't written meme here. Meme is still open, prompt there or here!

For [livejournal.com profile] inyourwings:

Sam stumbled in the pitch black corridor, swearing when he jammed his shoulder against a sharp corner. He heard the sound of movement coming from up ahead and froze. "Who's there?" he heard, a harsh, rasping whisper that settled at the back of his skull. The voice came closer. "Is someone there?"

Sam took the chance of pulling out his lighter, the dim light revealing a dismal hallway lined with metal doors. "Cas?" he said, keeping his own voice low. "That you?"

The voice came from two doors ahead and to the right. Sam approached, holding the lighter in front of him and looking over his shoulder; when he held the flame in front of the wire mesh window he heard Castiel hiss. "Sorry, sorry," he said, moving the light away. He wondered how long it had been since there'd been any kind of light down here, if just the tiny flame from the lighter was enough to get that reaction.

"Where are the others?"

"What others? Where the hell am I?"

The dim light wasn't strong enough to penetrate into the dark cell, but he could almost feel Castiel giving him that eyes-narrowed look. "Oh." Sam saw the fingers of one hand thread through the wire, the only part of Castiel he could see. "How did you get here?"

"Lucifer. Lucifer, he showed up in a dream and said he had something he needed to show me. Does that mean this is just a dream, then?"

"That would be a pleasant surprise."

Sam could see Castiel's nails had been ripped out so recently it was only just starting to heal, his fingers covered with new cuts and old scars. "How'd you wind up in there, Cas?"

"Michael doesn't plan on executing prisoners until the war's over."

"Michael? What do you...." Suddenly the meaning behind that hit Sam like a truck. Oh God, Dean. You didn't. "Where are we?"

"Fort Angeles."

Sam blinked at that. "What, like Los Angeles?"

"Not anymore. Sam, did anyone see you?"

Sam shook his head, realizing too late Castiel probably couldn't see him. "I don't think so."

"You need to get out of here before someone does. The east doors aren't as well guarded as the others, that's your best chance. Try to take one of their swords, if you can."

"How many angels am I dealing with here?"

The way Castiel went quiet at that turned Sam's stomach to ice. "You don't know."

"Know what? What the hell's going on upstairs?"

"Nothing. Not for years. There are no angels in Heaven, Sam. They're all here. Michael's summoned the army of the Host."

It took a second for the full horror of that to sink in. "Okay. Okay," he said, strangling down the panic as he examined the cell door. "How do I get you out of here?"

He could almost hear Castiel shake his head. "You can't. Only Michael can open this door."

"I'm not just leaving you here."

"You have to. Head south. There should still be a resistance cell operating there." The sound of a heavy slamming door rang through the corridor. "Sam, go."

Sam touched Castiel's hand; the cell block was cold but not cold enough for him to be shaking like this. "I'm coming back for you, Cas. You hear me? I promise. I'm not gonna leave you here."

He felt Castiel's hand go tight on the wire. "Do you mean it this time?"

For [livejournal.com profile] aerilex:

And it wasn't like this was even the first time he'd died. Dean did a quick count and realized this was time number three, at least of times he could remember, and Jesus, what the hell was wrong with his life that he could even have that thought?

This was the first time he'd come to after dying to find himself riding shotgun in an angel's head, though. So that was weird. Especially since Cas didn't seem to know he was there; Dean wondered for a second if he was haunting Cas, but if that was true he had the feeling Cas would just be able to see him and anyway, he'd been a ghost before and it hadn't felt like this. He could only see the room through Castiel's eyes; there was a dead Reaper on the floor, a single stab wound through its chest. Dean was just relieved it wasn't Tessa, which also struck him as kind of strange. He wondered for a second if maybe that was Sam's Reaper, the first time it hit him that if he was like this, Sam was probably dead too. Shit.

Dean could see his own body laid out the bed, sliced up enough that Dean couldn't tell what had actually killed him. He felt Castiel's hand shake as he reached for Dean's shoulder, almost but not quite touching him, then he was gone in a whoosh of wings, dragging Dean along with him.

Man, it was hard to focus like this. The next thing Dean knew Castiel had some mook angel up against a wall, the other guy dressed in a black suit like the goons Zachariah tended to run with. "Where are their souls?" Castiel growled, and Dean tried as hard as he could to shout Cas, I'm right here.

No one heard. Dean felt Castiel shake the other angel. "The souls of Sam and Dean Winchester. What was done with them?"

The angel just responded with a vicious, toothy grin. "Your carelessness with your things isn't our concern. We had nothing to do with this." Castiel dropped him, drawing his sword; Dean could tell Cas was too distracted to see the other guy had beaten him to it. Cas, from your left! Pay attention!

Castiel pivoted just in time to catch the blade through the meat of his shoulder instead of through his chest, and Jesus, Dean knew he wouldn't have been able to tell by looking at him but that hurt. Cas swung his own sword, catching the angel through the throat and dropping it. Dean felt him back away as the bad guy's wings burned themselves out, bracing himself against with one hand against the wall.

Dean had never realized what a mess Castiel really was under his borrowed skin before. Dean could feel there were pieces of him missing, torn and scarred over with rough edges, and wondered if that was where he was supposed to be connected to Heaven. Dean searched out where he was bleeding from this new stab wound, finding the jagged edges of light that were about to become one more scar. Dean wasn't sure what he could do but the way Cas hissed in a breath when he tried to move made up his mind. He put pressure on the torn edges, pressing them back together, feeling Cas shiver at the touch. For a second Dean thought that was it, Castiel would realize he was there now but there was nothing. Castiel straightened back up, and if he thought it strange that the wound had healed so much more quickly than usual he gave no sign.

He flew off again and Dean was helpless to do anything but follow.

[livejournal.com profile] jimmybigbang progress:

Whoooooo! It's not very good and still needs work but there are words and it's sent in and doooonnnneeee!

[livejournal.com profile] morganoconner did this to me. I was supposed to be safe! She posted about how she was picking The Little Mermaid and was going to write Dean/Cas but changed her mind, and I commented with a Dean/Cas idea (my usual: Dean and Cas meet, Cas gets into trouble, Dean goes to save him, you know the drill) but that was okay because the prompt was taken.

But then I went and looked at the prompts and Flight of the Navigator was there and guys, I loved that movie so much when I was a kid. And it works so well as a Dean/Cas prompt, with Cas as the alien who kidnaps Dean and brings him back eight years later not realizing what a big deal that is, and there's guilt and misunderstandings and stupid, stupid risk taking! Cas skulking around disguised as a human! Dean saving Cas from the bad guys even though he still kind of hates him! Bonding because Cas is the only one who don't treat him like a freak!

You all are supposed to keep me from doing things like like this!

At least it's not another big bang?

Taking a quick writing break because OH YAY we can claim our [livejournal.com profile] deancas_xmas stories! I wrote Forks In The Road for [livejournal.com profile] electricskeptic (who by the way wrote me the fantabulous The Drugs Don't Work which everyone should go and read because it's one of my favorite things ever.

Also, I signed up for this:

I am going with the SPN/White Collar cross. You should sign up too!

Finally, a meme:

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from anything I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

I hope everyone had a good Guy Fawkes day! (or as we call it here, Happy Rewatch-V-For-Vendatta day!:)

Progress report!

1) comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] peachpai: accomplished!

2) edit on [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang: in progess!

3) fic for [livejournal.com profile] deancas_xmas: um. Ask again later? I haven't been able to stay up past midnight the past two days, which is just a waste of a perfectly good weekend as far as I'm concerned.

I sent [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner the beginning of a fic a day ago, asking if she thought it was worth continuing with, and she reached through the computer and forced me to sign to sign up for this:

[livejournal.com profile] spn_in_space | Rules & Schedule | Sign-Ups

So that's three fics that come due between now and Jan 20th, one of which is a big bang. Yay! *tired already*:)
