Save me from myself.

I've spent most of the morning plot bunnied hard from a prompt I can't claim (not to mention with a plot more involved than anything I really have time to write at the moment.)

Distract me, internets! (Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] musesfool)

Pick a number from the list and I'll answer it in the comments.

1 - Your current OTP
2 - A pairing you initially didn't consider but someone changed your mind
3 - A pairing you have never liked and probably never will
4 - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t
5 - Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?
6 - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom
7 - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it
8 - Do you prefer characters from real action series or anime series
9 - Has the internet caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why
10 - Name a fandom you didn't care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr/your social network sites
11 - How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom
12 - Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for
13 - Your favorite fanart or fanartist
14 - Your favorite fanfiction or fanauthor
15 - Choose a song at random, which OTP does it remind you of
16 - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)
17 - A ship you’ve abandoned and why
18 - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
19 - Show us an example of your personal headcanon
20 - Do you remember what your first fanwork was?
21 - Self-rec: What's your favorite fanwork you've created?
22 - Are you one of those fans who can’t watch anything without shipping
23 - 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms
24 - 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms
25 - A fandom you’re in but have no ships from
26 - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go

I don't know if the internet has soured me on a source so much as taught DO NOT ENGAGE with certain fans (House is the fandom that taught me that duscussion boards may well be of the devil, and I'm convinced that the reason I've had such a positive experience with SPN fandom is that I stay away from the anon comms.

Although some parts of the Sherlock fandom (especially the response over Elementary) have not made me go out of my way to catch up with S2.

Yeah, I've heard SPN fandom can be very wanky, but I've personally never experienced it. I think you're right and that it is all about where you hang out. XD

I know what you mean about Sherlock fandom. I really enjoy the show and I'll read fics my friends write or rec to me, but I don't actively participate. It's too frightening. :/

Oh God, I will answer this again and more fully when I'm home and have my bookmarks. Um. Hell Or High Water by [livejournal.com profile] electricskeptic. Contrapasso. Virtually everything by [livejournal.com profile] strangeandcharm (strangenessandcharm on DW, now) but especially Some Guys Have All The Luck. That one where Cas and Dean get trapped in Ohio. Oh, the 2014 Dean/Cas/Jo one [livejournal.com profile] thinlizzy2 , I love that one and can't remember the name.

The Butterfly Effect is still my favorite SV fic, and there's a fic on AO3 called When The Storm Is Through that is everything I could want from a Clint/Coulson/Nat fic.

More later!

I've mentioned this before, but a few months ago I had a vivid dream where the angels, demons and hunters were Sons of Anarchy style biker gangs. It works alarmingly well.

And I'm sure this exists somewhere and I just haven't found it, but there needs to be an AU where the Avengers are an Oceans 11/Leverage type team of super thieves.

[identity profile] kattahj.livejournal.com 2012-08-29 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Both of those sound awesome. (Though I'm partial to the thieves, for my own fannish reasons.)

Checking Ao3 for Avengers thieves brings up these results. I haven't read the stories.

Man. I don't know? I don't think I'm that good with cracky stuff. The fic where Cas gives Dean a hellpuppy, maybe. Hellpuppies are always cute.

2 if you please.

Clint/Coulson hadn't even occurred to me as a pairing until I read [livejournal.com profile] sirona_gs fics about them (I'd forgotten Clint was in Thor entirely!) I think I would have come around to Clint/Coulson/Nat anyway - I loved her relationships with both of them in the movie, the voice crack in the phone call and Phil calling her Tasha and her teasing him about his cards, and of course the obvious connection between her and Clint - but going into the movie with those Clint/Coulson fics in the back of my mind certainly helped it along.

SPN wise, Dean/Victor had never occurred to me until I saw fics of it and then it was like, "Well, obviously." Sometimes my slash goggles are cloudy; I didn't see Doctor/Master as a potential pairing until I saw it in fandom either.

I must have been about 3 when I got all squeeful about Maria and Luis realizing they were in love on Sesame Street(I vividly remember this.) And I can't say it was a ship war because I had no one to war with, but when I was around 6 I was very OTP about He-Man/Sorceress and would get very cranky about episodes that shipped him with Teela. (I hated Teela. The episode where she falls down the Bottomless Pit was one of the highlights of my childhood.)
