Phelps and the rest of his band of creatures plan to picket Heath Ledger's memorial service. I just...it hasn't even been a day and they're already busy using his death to spew their bigotry. These people are not Christians, no matter how many bible verses they wave around. They fixate on one badly-translated verse in the Old Testement (which doesn't even mean what they think it means) and completely ignore every word in the New, which is an odd choice since the NT is what Christianity is based on. Every time I think this group of ogres wearing human skin I'm reduced to flailing around in incoherent rage; not only do they prey on people at their most vulnerable moments, but they do it while wearing the trappings of a religion that preaches "love thy neighbor" as one of its two most important commandments. It's "Bitch, get outof my fandom" taken to its most horrible extreme.

And yeah, I know that wishing that they would all get crushed by their own church roof Hot Fuzz style means that I'm not that awesome a Christian either, but whatever. I still wish they would (although considering that they probably would probably consider me an idol-worshiping pagan anyway (iz Catholic), praying for them would probably be the worst thing I could do to them.)

Everyone on LJ has already posted their reactions to Heath Ledger's passing. If Dark Knight matches its trailer it would have been a triumph for him, the kind of movie that would have proven that he could play anything. Instead it will be an elegy, the way The Crow was for Brandon Lee. It seems like a terrible thing to say, but there are so many talentless wastes of oxygen in Hollywood. Why one of the truly gifted ones? If he was able to give performances like the ones in Brokeback and in Dark Knight before he was thirty, what would he have been doing at forty?

Horrible. Absolutely horrible, for him and his family (especially his wee adorable baby!). At least he got the chance to give one (possibly two, if Dark Knight lives up to its promise) truly immortal performance. I hope the writer's strike gets resolved in time for the Oscars, because while I don't really care one way or the other about the rewards, he deserves to have the In Memorium.

There'll be fic later tonight, so yay! for that, at least.

Title: Coda
Rating: PG
Characters: Nine, Rose, Adam
Spoilers: Through "Dalek."
Summary: Rose helps Adam settle into the TARDIS, but the echoes of the encounter with the Dalek linger. Rose had asked the Doctor what he was changing into. He wishes he knew.

(A/N: Set immediately after "Dalek." Special thanks to Super Beta [livejournal.com profile] raggyanne for smoothing over the rough spots.)

The look on Adam's face when he stepped into the TARDIS was better than Rose could have hoped for. )
