I signed up for GISHWES! At least, I think I did; I had to edit the email and resubmit it, and there's always the possibility I failed the essay portion of the exam. But nothing is being announced until the 18th from what I gather, so we'll see if I managed to do this right.

It is killing me that dc_dystopia's time frame is exactly the same as jimmybigbang's (the rough drafts are literally due within days of each other) because it hit me that would be the perfect excuse to write the SPN/24 crossover I've been kicking around the past few months.

OR! Or my 2014!Cas-does-drugs-because-Lucifer-keeps-walking-through-his-dreams idea! That would also work! Why does everything cool have to go on at the same time?!?

So last night I had a dream where I was watching Human Target (God, I miss my show) where the case wound up taking a decidedly supernatural turn. The team all brainstormed what to when Guerrero walked in, heard the story, said, "I know a guy" and called up Bobby (because Guerrero and Bobby both know everyone.) Bobby sent in Sam and Dean with Cas along for the ride; when they all walked in Guerrero took one look at Cas and said, "Hey bro, been a while," just as cool as you please. Apparently Guerrero had pulled a Gabriel, only instead of an angel pretending to be a trickster he was an angel slumming it as a human assassin.

That was as far as I got before Lexi in all her grace knocked something over and woke me up, and I'm not sure how I feel about my brain coming up with that. On hand, the concept that Guerrero essentially fell for Chance the way Cas fell for Dean amuses me, and I like the image of the two of them sighing over their pain in the ass humans. On the other hand, one of the things I like most about Guerrero is that he has a kid, and I don't even know if vesseled angels can do that. I mean, Jesse Turner being conceived in a demon-possessed body made him the antichrist.

Although the idea that Guerrero's son might be the Second Coming is hilarious.

Back to writing. I will have this deancas_xmas fic done and in beta shape tonight if it kills me.

I am flames on the side of my face angry about Human Target. First Fox retools my awesome little show, complete with installing a new showrunner, totally redesigning the sets, dropping the previous season's myth arc and adding two new characters in the same episode to what had been a three person cast, then after all that they cancel it just when the show was finding its feet again?

Fuck yoooooooooooou, Fox.

I was skipping apocalyptothon this year, but now I'm reconsidering so I can prompt the hell out of Human Target. Guerrero, Chance and Winston at the end of the world would be a blast.

And on the subject of fic, I'm officially at that point where I hate every word of this thing and wish I'd set it in a less fraught section of canon. (This happens with just about every story I write. Well, not the fraught canon thing, but let me sit on a fic and I eventually feel like every word is self-indulgent drivel.)

I'll post to the kink meme tonight (all kajillion parts of this thing.) Hopefully someone won't hate it.

On the subject of self-indulgence, if I finish the second story of my kink meme project tonight, and I should, I plan on posting an incredibly self-indulgent poll. I have a fic anniversary coming up in August and am contemplating a project to mark it.

Three of my loves: Deadwood, Tombstone and Brian Kinney on QAF. So you could imagine that when Gale Harold showed up on Deadwood playing Wyatt Earp I was all a-squee. I really liked show's the dark take on Wyatt and Morgan; one of my biggest disappointments with how the show "ended" was that we never got any resolution on that storyline. I would have paid good money to have had a "The Earps and Doc Holliday raise hell in Deadwood" story.



Oh, Guerrero. I still haven't posted about that last episode, but I'm still all "oh, my heart about it. *Sigh* Needless to say, Guerrero is my favorite character and I like the framing of this shot.



Kosh. Kosh is my favorite character on B5, another in a long line of cryptic mentor figures living in my heart. ( spoilers )



My OTP! These two had me the moment she called him "Baby Doll." Fun and flirty and hopelessly head over heels for each other. This is also my general Squee! icon.



The Crow is one of my favorite movies. I saw it for the first time at 14 in an empty theater and cried my eyes out, and it still hits me every time I see it. Eric lighting up the fire crow after taking out T-Bird is such a striking visual and just a gorgeous shot.

I discovered a new drabble comm! slashthedrabble! I belonged to a Heroes drabble comm back when that fandom was more active and always had a lot of fun with it. And the best part is that it's not just strictly 100 words; you can write a classic 100 word drabble or stories of precisely 200, 300, 400, or 500 words.

I gave myself a snow day today, not because it was really warrented but because I just could not bring myself to dig out my car at 6 in the morning. So today was a day of napping and poking at projects and waiting for the landlord's guy to come and look at the bathroom light, which never happened but at least prompted me to give the kitchen floor a much needed swiffering.

Tonight is another double dose of Human Target, which I am desperately trying to not take as a bad sign for my show's future. I really enjoyed last week's episodes, both because they had a lot of good Guerrero bits and because I liked Ilsa more than I have all season.

So this looks to be an Ames episode. Someone on the AV Club commented after last week's episode that she was trying so hard to be the Jubilee to Guerrero's Wolverine and I laughed and laughed, because it's true.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving/Thursday!

Sick Kitty is still sick, although at least she's back home. The vet thinks she had a bad reaction to her distemper booster from a couple of weeks ago and gave me meds for her, but she's still all sleepy-time kitten all the time and Gah. I worry. I've been poking at my 1sentence to make myself feel better.

Also, the Jets are winning won, which always helps.

And I'm vastly amused that the Human Target requests have doubled (granted, that means it's up to six now) since the premiere last night. The awesomeness of Guerrero compels you!
