I had a dream last night about an SPN AU where the demons, angels and hunters were all rival biker gangs, Sons of Anarchy style.

I don't even know, people.

I was supposed to post this days ago, but RL threw up all over me the past few days in various minor but annoying ways. But anyway! For [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner, who was having a bad time this week and wanted a peek at my [livejournal.com profile] spn_in_space crossover:

Still doing this: Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you and excerpt from that story.

I signed up for GISHWES! At least, I think I did; I had to edit the email and resubmit it, and there's always the possibility I failed the essay portion of the exam. But nothing is being announced until the 18th from what I gather, so we'll see if I managed to do this right.

These two were my favorite of Misha's countdown tweets today:

@mishacollins: Registration closes in 4 hours. i'm afraid, very afraid. A sh*t load of people have signed up. it's going to be mayhem.

@mishacollins: Less than 3 hours to register. This was a bad idea. it'll take hundreds of hours to review submissions. I have a family.

It is killing me that [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia's time frame is exactly the same as [livejournal.com profile] jimmybigbang's (the rough drafts are literally due within days of each other) because it hit me that would be the perfect excuse to write the SPN/24 crossover I've been kicking around the past few months.

OR! Or my 2014!Cas-does-drugs-because-Lucifer-keeps-walking-through-his-dreams idea! That would also work! Why does everything cool have to go on at the same time?!?

So last night I had a dream where I was watching Human Target (God, I miss my show) where the case wound up taking a decidedly supernatural turn. The team all brainstormed what to when Guerrero walked in, heard the story, said, "I know a guy" and called up Bobby (because Guerrero and Bobby both know everyone.) Bobby sent in Sam and Dean with Cas along for the ride; when they all walked in Guerrero took one look at Cas and said, "Hey bro, been a while," just as cool as you please. Apparently Guerrero had pulled a Gabriel, only instead of an angel pretending to be a trickster he was an angel slumming it as a human assassin.

That was as far as I got before Lexi in all her grace knocked something over and woke me up, and I'm not sure how I feel about my brain coming up with that. On hand, the concept that Guerrero essentially fell for Chance the way Cas fell for Dean amuses me, and I like the image of the two of them sighing over their pain in the ass humans. On the other hand, one of the things I like most about Guerrero is that he has a kid, and I don't even know if vesseled angels can do that. I mean, Jesse Turner being conceived in a demon-possessed body made him the antichrist.

Although the idea that Guerrero's son might be the Second Coming is hilarious.

Back to writing. I will have this [livejournal.com profile] deancas_xmas fic done and in beta shape tonight if it kills me.

Guys, I completely forgot to tell you about my AWESOME DREAM. For those new to my brain, I frequently have dreams I'm not even in, or in just as an observer (and yes, I've had more than one dream where I was watching TV. I never claimed to be a ball of excitement.)

Anyway, in my dream Sam and Dean were watching Lord of the Rings (Fellowship, in particular) for reasons that escape me although I'm reasonably certain it was Sam's idea. Cas zapped in to talk to them about something or other but got distracted by the movie and sat down to watch, too (which drove Dean crazy, because he was more than ready to move on to anything that didn't involve hobbits). Something - I don't remember what - really piqued Cas' interest and he started asking a lot of pointed questions, ones with a lot of canon detail he really shouldn't have been able to know. Finally he asked who the writer was, Dean told him "that dude who made King Kong," and Sam smacked him and said it was Tolkien, which got Cas really excited.

It turned out that Tolkien had been a prophet, but instead of seeing the future he saw the past - which meant that with some liberties taken for the sake of fiction everything in LotR canon had actually happened but had been wiped from humanity's collective memory.

Then some time passed and Cas showed up while Dean was working on the car, said something along the line of "Do you remember our conversation about the past?", then when Dean opened his eyes he found himself in the middle of an orc battle. And was very "son of a bitch" about the whole thing.:)

And I know at one point Cas went to go see Gandalf but don't remember what happened. Which is too bad because that had to be hilarious. (they are both angels, after all.)

Oh! And Sam was fluent in some flavor of Elvish. Because of course he is.:)

I dreamed last night I was watching a movie starring Matthew Bomer, Misha Collins and Henry Cavill as a trio of bank robbing brothers who stumble upon a conspiracy and have to go on the run to clear their name, because apparently they were criminals, but had standards. Of some kind. I don't remember what the conspiracy was all about, only that it was suitably dire to force them into some semblance of heroics. Although hilariously Misha's character was pretty much, "Wait, why are we not robbing banks again? Guys? *sigh*" about the whole thing.

The point is, is there some genie I can summon to make this happen? The world needs that much blue-eyed pretty on one screen.

It hit me today that I apparently ship Jason Todd/Roy Harper incredibly hard. Does anyone write these two? I want fic about broken vigilantes with mentor issues.
misachan: (Nick doesn't like storytime)
All In, the new Lifehouse song, isn't the greatest song ever --- it's kind of every Lifehouse song ever, and shamelessly reuses the riff to "First Time" --- but it's such a Nick/Ellis song to me that I still turn it up whenever I catch it on the radio. It hits that sweet spot when Nick stops digging in his heels and finally admits there's something going on here. I love my angsty zombie-killing dream ship.

Not dream as in perfect, although they are pretty much a distillation of everything pings a ship for me, but dream because I didn't even realize I shipped them until I had a dream about them. A dream about how I couldn't find any decent fanfic for this, a pairing I hadn't even been aware I was shipping. My subconscious just went, "Well, this is happening." (This is the second time my brain let me know via dream that it was off shipping without me; while I was watching Boomtown I had an incredibly graphic dream about two characters who had barely shared screen time, but who my brain had decided would be awesome together. It actually altered how I watched the show.:)

A show (or movie or book or what have you) showing up in my dreams is always my first sign that I'm about to lose my head. I dreamed about Watchmen the night I got home from the movie. I had Cas in my head three episodes into season 4. Does that happen to anyone else?

***

I wasn't going to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] dark_fest --- I defaulted last year --- but I to continue the theme I had a dream about the prompt I eventually chose. (Um. Sorry, Cas. You know you're my favorite, right?)
misachan: (Saitou smoking)
I had a dream last night I was watching a game show on what I guessed was Animal Planet. It was some variation of Wipe-Out; the contestants had picked out animals they wanted to adopt and if they got through the course the fees would be waived and they would receive free food and vet care for a year. There were the usual schmoopy videos featuring the contestants and the adorable animals, and I'm pretty sure one woman was talking to the (visible) ghost of her dead husband.

So that was odd. Although I would definitely watch that show. Even with the ghost.

[livejournal.com profile] isilrandir gave me S.

Susan Ivanova: (Babylon 5) Always obey the Babylon 5 mantra: "Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out."

Simon Archard: (Ruse, CrossGen Comics) Simon is all of Sherlock Holmes worst character traits dialed up to eleven: he's arrogant, rude, incredibly impressed with himself and ruthlessly brilliant. His assistant is essentially a god and even that barely impresses him. I adored Ruse and Simon was my favorite character in CrossGen. Needless to say I'm over the moon that Marvel is restarting Ruse in a few months. Simon is going to break the world. It will be awesome.

Saitou Hajime: (Rurouni Kenshin) If they could create a character expressly for me, Saitou is what they would come up with. Principled and ruthless and defined by his personal definition of honor, Saitou is my favorite character in all of anime and he's easily in the top ten of favorite characters ever. And no one works a cigarette like him.

Sarah: (The Crow) Oh, my girl. You can't imagine how distraught I was when I saw Crow 2 and witnessed what they did to my street-smart, caring, brave little kid. The idea of her mentoring a new Crow was a good one --- I just wish the execution hadn't been so wretched.

Seth Bullock: (Deadwood) I love conflicted lawfuls. You show me a character who's trying hard to deny his impulse to make things right, who just want the world to leave them be, who's torn between what they've been told and what they feel (oh hi, Cas), and I am there. Bullock spends the entire first season trying desperately to not be Deadwood's sheriff --- except that he leads the posse after Wild Bill's killer, continually butts heads with the town's criminal elements and can't keep his nose out of everyone's business. By the end of the season it's clear to everyone that he's the only man for the job --- and then Bullock's real problems start.:)

I am just terrible at updating. For the past two weeks I've been all, "Oh, I'll post something tomorrow!" and now it's "Well, hello, New Year!" and I haven't posted anything since Christmas.

Also, there's been so much Left 4 Dead 2 going on in the house since bringing home the XBox that I actually had a dream about it last night. About trying to find fic for it, actually; my subconscious apparently ships Ellis/Nick and in the dream I was looking up fic while being mocked for it by my flist. I don't even know. I've barely even played the game! (I'm terrible at fps games, especially multiplayer ones. Which is why I've been contenting myself with Dragon Age and my entitled little princeling rogue.:)

Although now that it's been brought to my attention, I do kind of ship it. Definite Yuletide nomination for next year.

In other gaming news, I am doing something terribly wrong and can't get past the first Reaper battle in Day One of the Joshua chapter of The World Ends With You. I keep finding walkthroughs saying this is an easy fight and I wind up shouting at the screen, "But I've died three times. REDEFINE EASY!" Can anyone clue me in as to where I'm going wrong here?

I'm super excited for the [community profile] fandom_stocking unveiling tomorrow, even I didn't get to write half of what I'd planned on. New tiny fics!

As you've no doubt cunningly deduced from my icon, I did in fact see Sherlock Holmes on Christmas. *sings* It's Guy Love! That's all it is! )

Non-spoilerly: Fun, fun movie. Not a better Holmes than the Granada series (but how could it be? Although I might actually like Jude Law's Watson a teensy bit better. Shhhhh!) but much closer the the source that you might believe and filled with lots of little references for Holmes aficionados.

So last night I dreamed I was watching a fall season TV preview type of show, and one of the shows starred either Minnie Driver or Andie McDowell (I can't remember, and I actually think it changed mid-dream) as some kind of paranormal PI who was trying to balance the paranormal PI life with suddenly having to deal with raising her niece, who had been orphaned in a mysteriously paranormal way. It was like a mash-up of Supernatural and...I don't know, Medium, I guess.

I clearly remember that in the dream they were talking about how the niece character was originally going to be brown eyed, but the actress had a bad reaction to the contacts so they had to go with her natural blue eyes. For some reason they kept harping on this and mourning how with brown eyes the niece looked so much like the main Driver/McDowell character until in the dream I started getting annoyed and complaining, "Brown eyed people can have blue eyed relations, you know...."

Then I woke up. I don't even know, people. I don't even think I was planning on watching the show in the dream.

My standard anxiety dream is being back at college and realizing that there's an extra class on my schedule that I've completely forgotten about and now it's too late to withdraw, or having a huge paper due the next day for a class I've never attended. I've had enough of these that in dream I can usually stop myself and go, "Wait. Wait, I've graduated. I don't have to do this any more..

And then there's the clown-faced juggler dream. Twice now just when I've been in that almost-asleep place I've dreamed that I've opened my eyes to see someone in a suit and black and white clown making up standing in the corner of the bedroom, silently juggling and grinning. I have no idea WTF this is about. I mean, I realize it's related to my clown fear and all, but seriously, brain. What the hell.

To clear that out of everyone's brain, a meme!

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

So last night I had a dream where I was reading an issue of Nightwing (which should have been my clue that it was a dream; Nightwing doesn't have his own comic at the moment and even when he did I didn't read it) where Dick was being followed by a mysterious figure...a figure that went "Hurm" in the last panel. Before I could even start going OMGWTFRorschach! the scene shifts and he and Dick are in the middle of a fight scene ("Hurm. You fight soft." "Who the heck are you?!"), presumably because they were tailing the same target. (The fight winds up more or less even, IIRC.)

Then the scene shifts again and Rorschach is in the Batcave, messing with the Bat-computer and going through the Bat-files; Dick's in this scene too and is all Dude, you can't be here, so I don't know if Dick let him in there or if Rorschach ninja-ed his way in. Then Rorschach gets to Blue Beetle's file; when he reads what happened to Ted Rorschach gets tremendously upset, and he can't understand why.

Then I woke up and just lay there going "Aw, dammit!" I wanted to finish that storyline.:)

This post on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants about a terrible Doctor Who/Twilight crossover reminded me that a while back I actually had a Doctor Who/Twilight dream.

In the dream, Nine and Rose landed in whaterever town Twilight takes place in and run into the werewolves. Random Werewolf #1 immediately imprinted on Rose and started following her and the Doctor around, until they ran into the Cullens while trying to get away from him. At this point the whole imprinting thing was explained and the werewolves were all acting as if this is the best thing ever and picking out china patterns. Rose and the Doctor were all incredibly creeped out, of course, the Doctor especially being "Oh hell no, step away from my companion," about the whole situation, while the Twilight cast couldn't figure out why Rose wasn't swooning.

At some point it was revealed that the vampires and werewolves were both actually alien races who'd been stranded on Earth for so long that they'd started confusing themselves with vampire and werewolf myths, then I woke up, wondering WTF was wrong with my brain.

I've never even read Twilight. Everything I know I gleaned from the internet, mostly[livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's recaps. See what you all have done to me?!
