Here there be dragons.

Just got back from Sucker Punch. Really, really liked it, but then, I would. There's very little bad I can say about a movie that has women sword fighting undead clockwork steampunk WW1 German soldiers.
And I'm actually really surprised (and happy) that the real world escape actually happened. I was sure it would wind up being an Owl Creek type of scenerio, but no. Sweet Pea did get to go free, and Baby Doll brought down the system. (Assuming the end happened, but I chose to believe it did.)
There was a very anime feel to the whole movie (if Zach Snyder didn't have the story credit I would have assumed it was based an a manga, or a graphic novel that badly wanted to be manga), from Baby Doll's sailor scout costume to the heroic sacrifice at the end. Dystopian Sailor Moon isn't a bad way to describe it, actually.
Again: undead clockwork WW1 soldiers. And giant, magic samurai statues. And a mech dueling biplanes.
I want one of those Fight Like a Girl icons with Baby Doll.
So sleepy.
