The brain comes up with bizarre things in the midst of NaNo. For instance, at work today my brain told me that the Drashon royals cut the ears of the royal servant caste so they would resemble elf ears, because they think that looks more "elegant." I know this because I saw the scene where Wren, a royal servant, explains this bit of court strangeness to the rest of the cast.

Now, I'm not adverse to this, since once I get to it it'll give me at least a page of the cast going OMGWTFBBQ!!! (especially the half-elf), but it's so...Ewwwwwwww.

Again: ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Now I feel even worse that I'm giving this girl a horrible death shortly afterward.

Special note to Drashon and House Elentari: WTF is wrong with you people? It's bad enough you have this horrible caste system anyway; did you have to go and make it even worse? I'm so glad your stupidity and hubris screws you all over. I also hate that you're the main magical power of this world (but I love the Death Mark! Thank you for such a convenient plot device!).
