So, was I the only one screaming (mentally, anyway), "No! You fools! You have to check every room or you'll get the bad ending!
And so she did. At least, I hope she did; if being impregnated by a demon, stabbed in the chest, getting the nice cop who helped you burned at the stake, and finally coming home obliviously on another plane so that your now tainted daughter can eat your adorable husband's brain is the good ending, I don't want to know what would have happened had things gone wrong.
All in all, it was decent, but not OMG!amazing. The really scary moments were the small ones: the cars going over the overpass and making that eerie creaking sound; Rose knocking over the desk in the silent classroom; the radio static; the spitter shambling out of the shadows. I'm glad they used the spitters; it's my favorite monster, although I would have liked it better if it had skittered around after being shot like in the game. And Pyramid Head looked incredible.
The movie started to run out of steam when it started explaining the plot, but the BORG QUEEN being there all freaky and amazing saved it to a certain extent. I'm not real clear on what purpose Bomomir played in this movie, other to adorably plot dump. Not that I really wanted him to die, but generally in horror movies, friends and family of the main hero/heroine (especially heroine) are pretty much toast. He didn't even go into the town! The most danger he faced was an easily kickable door and dusty boxes. And maybe the nun. Seriously, all his scenes could have been cut with minimum damage aside from the Shyamalanian ending. When I saw the trailer I thought they'd both be in the town trying to find each other, and she would have the first game plot and he'd have the second.
Oh well. Pyramid Head skinned someone. And Cybil looked perfect. That earns a lot of points (I actually was put in the mood for some Cybil fic after the movie. I liked the characterization they gave her, and death means nothing in Silent Hill).
I changed my start up sound to Lexx. I'm not sure if that really counteracts the Daleks. And now I'm craving a Doctor Who/Lexx crossover.
