Avengers! Assemble!

misachanJust got back from the Avengers. Non spoilery reaction: So Good. There was nothing wrong with that movie.
On a more spoilery note, I called months ago that Coulson was the most likely character to get the Joss Whedon treatment (not a character from the comics, in multiple movies, beloved, heart of the team type, all things Joss loves to set up his patented gut punch.) And oh, I wish I was wrong but if he had to go out at least he went out like a boss, standing up to Loki and shooting off that big gun. And that he was good with dying because it would bring together the team! It's like he knew he was in a Joss Whedon movie!
There was some glorious banter in this. (Tony calling Clint Legolas!) I loved the little character touches, like Clint calling Widow Nat and Coulson calling her Tasha, those little signs that these characters have known each other a while. And I loved the scenes with Thor and Loki, how throughout the whole movie Loki was always Thor's brother first and an enemy second, and that moment near the end when Loki finally realized he was in over his head. (And on a strictly shallow note, the man looked fantastic. When he was in the back of that jeep at the beginning? And later when he was strutting around in that suit? *fans self* The dark hair/light eyes combination always undoes me.)
WIDOW! I loved every scene with Natasha. No one will ever say she doesn't belong on this team again. Badass and smart and more than able to hold her own with all those superhumans. And I'm so glad Edward Norton had his falling out with Marvel, because Mark Ruffalo was fantastic.
Also, THANOS. And what a great set-up line, that going to war with them is to court death. Music to his ears.
