Shake, rattle and roll, baby.
Aug. 23rd, 2011 07:38 pmSo apparently we had an earthquake today? I didn't feel anything (and wouldn't have known anything had been amiss without twitter and my coworker's radio) but at least two people I work with decided to spend the last hour of the day complaining about how we weren't let out early and they "didn't feel safe." I complained on twitter that they were making us look bad in front of the west coast.
I know some of you are in the DC area. Everyone okay? *worries*
I'm behind, so lets do a few questions at once.
13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?
I...like both? I try hard to make my writing feel like canon but I'll use fanon if it fills in a blank (and, most importantly, if it amuses me.) For example, I like the fanon of Cas' wings being ridiculously sensitive and I've used his wings being black twice, although the reasons for them being black were different in each story.
14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?
I've written the gamut. I'd say the majority of my stuff hovers around PG-13.
15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?
I try to warn for the big things - violence, torture, I haven't written non-con but I'd definitely warn for that, and I usually spoiler cut warnings. And I do warn for character death even if it's temporary (but again, spoiler cut) both because I don't feel the need to ruin someone's day unnecessarily and as an enticement. I know first hand sometimes you're just in the mood for an angsty death scene.:)
