Okay, if I can JUST GET THROUGH THE REST OF TODAY there will be:

1) AVENGERS! (Midnight showing, already have my ticket.)

2) Posting my [livejournal.com profile] super_disney fic! (I've been sitting on and poking this story since FEBRUARY. That people are actually going to read it after all this time is frankly kind of surreal and terrfying.)

3) [livejournal.com profile] dc_dystopia art previews tomorrow! (And claims Saturday!)

4) Three day weekend!

*watches clock*

AVENGERS!

ETA: Ooh. OOH. I know which one I want for Dystopia. (Art preview is up!) Mwahaha.

Ugh, work. I do not approve.

On a related note, is there anything more frustrating than traffic being backed up for no apparent reason? I don't know what was going on this morning, but it took fifteen minutes to drive two blocks and it wasn't like there was an accident or street closed. Just every car in the world out there all trying to make left turns.

And then when I tried to log into the program I need to, y'know, do my job the program first informed me that my password was expired, led me through the 15 minutes rigamarole to change the blasted thing then refused to authorize me even though that form was submitted months ago.

Death of a thousand cuts today, I swear.

Ugh, this day. Every time I started making progress on things, someone came by and dropped something on my desk. And somehow getting new computers in the office has made us less efficient. Bah, I say!

But you know what's much better than computers that freeze and won't let you log back in? The HOLIDAY LOVE MEME! (My thread is here. *hides*)

I like this meme, and knowing me these probably will turn into real stories (from [livejournal.com profile] penknife):

Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you between one and three sentences paragraphs, because let's be honest here, from that story.

So apparently we had an earthquake today? I didn't feel anything (and wouldn't have known anything had been amiss without twitter and my coworker's radio) but at least two people I work with decided to spend the last hour of the day complaining about how we weren't let out early and they "didn't feel safe." I complained on twitter that they were making us look bad in front of the west coast.

I know some of you are in the DC area. Everyone okay? *worries*

I'm behind, so lets do a few questions at once.

13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

I...like both? I try hard to make my writing feel like canon but I'll use fanon if it fills in a blank (and, most importantly, if it amuses me.) For example, I like the fanon of Cas' wings being ridiculously sensitive and I've used his wings being black twice, although the reasons for them being black were different in each story.

14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?

I've written the gamut. I'd say the majority of my stuff hovers around PG-13.

15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?

I try to warn for the big things - violence, torture, I haven't written non-con but I'd definitely warn for that, and I usually spoiler cut warnings. And I do warn for character death even if it's temporary (but again, spoiler cut) both because I don't feel the need to ruin someone's day unnecessarily and as an enticement. I know first hand sometimes you're just in the mood for an angsty death scene.:)

In other news, the new job is continuing apace. There's a Dunkin Donuts close enough to walk to on my lunch break, so I've rediscovered my love for their lattes (Oh, sweet love, never leave me again). Everyone is so nice; after my last job where you got the evil eye for taking too many bathroom breaks being hounded to take a full lunch hour is taking some adjustment. I'm half-expecting to discover that the whole thing is a front for an Angel-style demonic group. And they're so nice I wouldn't mind.

*pokes fic* Y'know Jack, Faith, I really didn't expect you guys to do so much talking. Seriously, I'm glad you two are getting along and trading war stories and all, but c'mon. (I fail at writing short and sweet.)
