It's been days now and the Metalocalypse finale still makes me grin like a crazy person. There was more emotional payoff in the last ten minutes of that show than in most dramas. (Smallville? Looking directly at you here.) Here, a quick list of things I loved:
It's too bad that S3 will almost certainly start out with Mordhaus being rebuilt and Ofdensen recovering (possibly with a cool laser shooting cybernetic eye); I want to see the hilariously awkward hospital visit where the band drops off all the paperwork they're not capable of dealing with and brings him flowers they found outside.
In short, I'm way too emotionally involved in this silly frakking show.:)
- Nathan carrying Toki out of the inferno and being trapped into admitting that he thinks Toki's been drinking way too much. "Coulds it be that you cares about me?" "Dammit Toki, don't do this." Because underneath his brutal exterior Nathan is a giant mushball. A brutal mushball.
- And then the next scene, where Toki saves Nathan from the crazy cultist, practically the first time he's been on his feet the whole episode, and then the two of them bonding over how women are crazy.
- Swisgarr taking out two attackers with his guitar. Bad ass.
- Even Murderface got a moment in the sun, getting to use his, as Tv Tropes put it, "fire marshal mojo." This may be the first time in the entire history of the show that Murderface has succeeded at anything.
- Ofdensen leaping from speeder bike to speeder bike like the awesome ninja he is
- And of course my favorite moment, Nathan saving Ofdensen from the Masked Assassin. And not just saving him, but saying "That's my bread and butter you're fucking with" as he did it. No lie, I literally kicked my feet in glee with that reference, my favorite moment of season 1. You do not mess with Nathan's band, including their awesome ninja manager. At least partially because they'll all starve to death without him, and Nathan at least is functional enough to know he can't run Dethklok on his own.
