I had no idea how OTP I was about Shawn/Gus until I started poking around Psych fandom and saw just how big Shawn/Lassiter is. And I mean, I get it, I see where it's coming from (and God knows I love me some adversarial ships) but....

Shawn just loves Gus so damn much. This is the guy who throws temper tantrums when Gus dares to make someone other than Shawn the focus of his attention. Fics where Shawn is all about Lassie and Gus is barely mentioned? Nuh uh. No go.

And I don't even so much ship them romantically as much as demand that they be the most important people in each others' lives (well, okay, Shawn being the most important person in Gus' life and Gus being the most important non-Shawn person in Shawn's life).

Yeah. That. It's not just the Shawn/Lassie fics either, it's the same with a lot of the Shawn/Jules fics and even a decent amount of the gen. And of course then there's the stuff where Shawn and Gus are indeed BFF FOREVER but only so Gus can be killed off and Shawn wrecked with sorrow.

And, y'know, some of these are even good fics, but I'm bitter.

Now see, I love h/c but that's just wrong. For a show centered around solving murders, Psych is pretty fluffy. You know going in that none of the mains are going to get shot or have anything really egregious happen to them taht can't be resolved in the space of an episode. I'd love an episode/fic where Shawn thinks</i< something terrible happened to Gus, but it being permanant is not what I signed up for.:)

*g* I kind of like Psych angstfic because the show doesn't provide it and it'd be interesting to see what would happen if there was bad stuff Shawn couldn't scam his way out of. But I want MORE GUS. :-)

Can you recommend anything good? I haven't had much luck finding fic (well, good fic). And angst would be good too, just not the OMG-so-dark variety.:)

I have the shortest fic-memory EVER (I really should update my ficrecs site as often as I do my vidrecs site, but I just don't). Still, here are my Psych memories. The SPN crossover in particular is ace. Yuletide has some good stuff too; if you haven't read "Gus for the Gold Star" already you absolutely should.

As for angst, I've mostly been browsing the h/c category on psychfic.com and forgotten each fic as soon as I've read it, but I vaguely remember liking this one. And because I'm a total hypocrite, here's a very good Shawn death fic. (Or more accurately, ghost fic.)
