misachanSo, just to recap: Fiance's Steelers are pretty much done after last night and this Sunday my Jets are starting Kellen Clemens, a QB so inept that when faced with the prospect of having to start him after the Favre fiasco management not only drafted a QB in horror, but immediately started him. And then would laugh when sportswriters would try to create a QB controversy, as if the prospect that Clemens would actually manage to be the starting QB was the most ridiculous thing ever.
Can it be baseball season again? All the GM meeting rumors have had me missing baseball. Maybe we'll watch The Bronx Is Burning tonight.

So John Scalzi declared war on Black Matrix Publishing for having a pay rate that makes Victorian publishers go, "Dude. Seriously?" This was created many, many pages of glorious wank as well as really interesting looks into the world of short story pay rates and the short fiction market.
My favorite post on the subject is here, not so much for the post itself but because in the comments people start throwing out the names of worthwhile short story markets to guide people away from scam spots like Black Matrix. If any of the wonderful writers on my flist have a short story they're wondering what to do with, there might be a good fit somewhere in there (I know I took notes:).
