Title: Don't Ever Look Back
Author: [livejournal.com profile] misachan
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] slinkymilinky (Link to Art Master Post)
Word Count: 3413
Characters/Pairings: Dean/Castiel, Dean/Anna, Sam, Uriel, Zachariah
Warnings: Violence (including violence between family members), drug use (nothing stronger than pot), underage drinking (nothing harder than beer), sex between an 18 and 17-year-old, sexuality angst

Summary: Another day, another town; when their bounty hunter father enrolls he and Sam in yet another school Dean thinks this will just be another town he'll forget five minutes after he leaves it. Things get more interesting when Sam befriends a classmate of Dean's and the lonely boy with the strange name and stranger family slowly gets under Dean's skin. Their new friendship gets complicated when it becomes clear that Castiel's brothers aren't just strange, they're dangerous, and the secrets they keep and the sins they bury have a lot to do with Dean. It would all be bad enough even without Dean starting to worry that maybe friendship isn't all he wants.

A Dean/Castiel high school love story with fist fights, movie nights, make outs, broken hearts, hospital vigils and a steamed up hotel shower.

Sam groaned when he felt the bottom seam of his backpack give way and dump his books all over the floor. )

misachan: (SPN j2 big bang)
Tomorrow is my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang posting day, so as always I wanted to give the heads up that at 7 AM on the dot EST (barring alarm failures or hilarious technological catastrophes) I will be spamming your flists with nine parts of high school AU + masterpost. Forgive me!

misachan: (Water is wider)
Title: But Water Is Wider (also on AO3)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] misachan
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] sgmajorshipper (Link to Art Master Post)
Crossover: Supernatural/White Collar
Word Count: 32,800
Characters/Pairings: Dean/Castiel, Peter/Elizabeth, Neal, Sam, Jones, Diana
Warnings: Hellhound-related violence, some language
Spoilers: Set S5 for SPN, S2 for White Collar

Summary: Dean knows they've had hunts go worse than this, but right now he's having trouble thinking of any. What should have been a simple haunted painting salt-and-burn gets sticky when the head of the theft ring they've conned their way into turns out to be on the FBI payroll. With Sam stuck in custody Dean calls in Castiel, hoping some angel mojo might lead to a quick escape and Cas quickly finds enough bubbling beneath the surface to attract his attention - like hellhounds prowling the halls of FBI headquarters. Sam also finds the day full of surprises: when Agent Burke starts the interrogation the only questions he has involve a thick file all about Sam and Dean, a fire in a Colorado police precinct and how Victor Hendrickson really died.

Neal knows he should have slipped his tracker and run off days ago, when he first heard the howls. Now he's scrambling to keep his old crossroads mistake from bringing everyone down with him, and it's not long before Peter, Dean, Sam, Cas, Jones and Diana all find themselves caught in the web, and Elizabeth finds herself with a choice: rejoin the family she's left behind or save the one she's built.

When hellhounds come baying for blood, even angels have nowhere to hide.

Author’s Notes: All my love to [livejournal.com profile] aerilex for beta reading, [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner for reading through the first chapter and reassuring me to keep going, and of course [livejournal.com profile] sgmajorshipper for the pretties.

misachan: (Yankees)
Tomorrow is my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang posting day! So on one hand, whooooooo! On the other, it's a five part story so there will be some flist spamming. I beg your forgiveness as always!

(WOOOOOOOOOOO!)

***

Before I go back to coding and just because I'm wondering: What's the strangest/most random thing you've had to research for a fic? Right now I've got a tab open with box scores from a 2007 game between the Cubs and the Mets, because my stupid, stupid brain won't let me wing those kinds of things apparently.

What about all of you? *chin on hands*
misachan: (SPN j2 big bang)
[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang claims are about to go live (the RPS post is already up.)

HOLD ME, INTERNETS!
misachan: (chibi dean/cas)
[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang progress:

So. I has a draft. And once the always awesome [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner helps me make my summary not be terrible I'm sending it in.

So it looks like I'm doing this.

EEEEEEEE

{{{{hugs everyone}}}}

***

On a related note, I believe artist signups are still open until claiming on the 7th TODAY. You know. If there are any artist types out there who might be interested and haven't gotten around to it yet.:)
misachan: (SPN j2 big bang)
[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang progress:

Wrote over 9K today. New one day all-time total. Still have more left. Why did I do this to myself? Why?

Seemingly now only type in fragments. Must investigate further.

Who am I? Who are you? Where is this? What is that beautiful house? Where does that highway lead to?
misachan: (aghast)
I just did count and I still have 14 scenes left before I'm done with my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang draft. 14! And that's not even counting the one I'm in the middle of! *despairs*

(Is anyone else still in this thing? Sound off and share the pain!)

***

In related torment, the idea of having to cobble together an artist's summary for this makes me break out in a cold sweat. I have nothing. "Dean/Cas highschool AU that kind of sort of maaaaybe if you squint follows along with some of S4, except there's no Apocalypse and no one explodes" is just not going to cut it.

*woe and despair*
misachan: (SPN j2 big bang)
[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang progress:

So. That happened. Just so my current level of tired can be understood right now, when I opened the file up this morning the word count was 13390. There were words today, is what I'm saying. Lots of angsty, teenage words.

This means I am now officially over the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang minimum word count, even if I'm not at the whole "story must have a beginning, middle and end" requirement yet. But I'm at the point where I'm beginning to think such a thing may be possible! This is a very big improvement over a few days ago.

Also, Dean is a horrible boyfriend who stomped all over poor Cas' angsty teenage heart. *nods*

***

[livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang art claims were today and my story got picked! EEEEEE! There are more stories than artists so I'm just pretty princess twirling that I'm already claimed and don't have to sit and wait through the next round of dodgeball, you know?

(And one of the other [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang stories is a Walking Dead crossover, set 2014!verse, with Claire as a main character. Paired with Daryl. I know, right? I could not have been happier when that one got claimed because I want to read it right now.)

***

Hey, you know what's a surefire way to jolt yourself wide awake if you're feeling drowsy? Your cat absolutely freaking out because there's a moth in the house. Thanks, Lexi!
misachan: (SPN j2 big bang)
[livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang progress:

Ugh, it's already the 12th and I'd hoped to be a couple thousand more words in by now. It's 15K or bust this weekend, I'm telling you.

On the bright side, I'm getting to the part of the story where the dramatic stuff starts to happen, so hopefully that will move things along. I did figure out how to structure a scene coming up later that makes so much more sense than what I'd originally been planning and lets me reuse some characters that show up right at the beginning so whoo! Sort-of foreshadowing!:) And I don't know how, but Zachariah might be a bigger douche in this than he is in canon. I'm actually kind of impressed.

(As a side note, this is the second time in three stories writing Dean as an eighteen-year-old and it amuses me how little difference there is between that and writing him at 30, levels of alcoholism and PTSD aside. Oh, Dean, I love you dearly but a shining example of emotional maturity you're not.)

Oh! I'd been planning on writing another Dean/Cas/Lisa story as a palate cleanser between finishing this and jumping into another installment of Dean/Cas and All The Words for [livejournal.com profile] deancasbigbang - Lifelines was actually my third go at that OT3: my first try wound up way too long for the deadline, bang length easy, and the second was a Five Things story with time travel that I could not make work timeline-wise - when today the solution hit me out of the blue. Apparently taking a scene from that first story and tossing it into the second fixes everything; it was an absolute lighting-has-struck-my-brain moment. It took everything I had to resist twirling around in my swivel chair at work and laugh maniacally.

(Alas, we live in a world where work doesn't allow one to just rush home to write. Have we lived and fought in vain?)

I think my icon speaks for itself.

I'm pretty sure everyone's seen this, but just in case:

Honestly, I'd love a SHIELD movie, just two hours of Coulson and Widow and Hawkeye being awesome without the superheroes getting their nonsense over everything.

Woo.

And, done.

Well, you know. The first draft version of done, anyhoo.

To celebrate, a meme! Because this is one of my favorites:

Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you an excerpt from that story.

(As an example, this is what came of this last time.)

*hugs all*
misachan: (sexywingmisha)
[livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang progress:

I'm now on the last chapter and plan to get at least another 2K down tonight (there's a hurt/comforty bit up next and I'm hoping that flows pretty well.) I'm really, really hopeful I can finish this weekend so I can dive into [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang.

People, please, never let me sign up for this many things again.

Also, while I have not seen this week's episode yet I've spoiled myself just enough know that my favorite bit of S7 fanon has apparently become canon. I no lie clapped my hands like seal when I found out.

In less squeeful news, apparently no Hunger Games tomorrow. Aw well. This give me time to run to the comics shop, I guess.

***

I watched Hour of the Gun on TCM on demand this afternoon (because I will watch anything involving Doc Holliday and not starring Kevin Costner) and I think it's actually slashier than Tombstone. I did not think that was possible. There's a scene where Doc confronts Wyatt about his mad vengeance quest - Wyatt has so far gone out of way to kill everyone associated with Ike Clanton instead of arresting them - and tries to get Wyatt to take a swing from his whiskey flask. When Wyatt refuses Doc needles him more, telling him "If you're gonna kill like me you might as well drink like me, too."

And then there's another scene where Doc tries again to pull Wyatt back, telling him if he kills Ike without even the paper sanction of the law there's be no coming back, that the law means too much to Wyatt and, I quote, "You can't live the way I do." I lost count of how many scenes there were of Doc just skulking around watching Wyatt and a good chunk of the movie is just the two of them alone, together on the hunt.

Also, movie, you can't have Wyatt Earp gun down Ike Clanton in Mexico and still claim "This is how it really happened." Really, now.

[livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang progress:

OH HEY Look who broke 20K this weekend! I didn't get any other writing done (I'm working on a fill for the WAFFathon and trying to finish at least one of comment fics I owe) but yay, 20K! I'm now confident this is a story that will be finished!

Also, the goalposts have moved from 20K to 30K, since I reached 20K without, y'know, actually being done. (*sigh*) I think 30K is reasonable? God, I hope so; I need to get this done so I can start putting down words for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang.

How are all of you? It's been so quiet! Take a quick break and tell me everything!

***

I should be going to bed but Tombstone is on. That's not a battle sleep is going to win.
misachan: (Neal)
[livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang progress:

Aaaaaand, first chapter down, all pieces on the board. I really want to get over 10K this weekend while I have the time, maybe even get the next section done.

(Incidentally, if anyone wants a look at what I have so far, not to beta read or anything but just for strictly self-indulgent cheerleading purposes, that would be kind of awesome.)

*HUGS* for everyone for reassurances last night! Have a tiny happy owl as a thank you:
