Just waiting to hear from my second beta and then my [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon fic will be all ready for posting. I am still shocked and amazed that it looks like I'm going to get this in on time.

Now that my apocafic is finished I can start writing Watchmen again and man, did this fic get real dark, real fast. Oh, Dan. I think I'm going to go back and finish the fluffy Christmas fic before working on this one any more. (BTW, I love that Watchmen is one of the few fandoms where a story can contain violent interrogation and still wind up in the "fluff" category. The darkfic just has to work so much harder to compete with canon.:)

I am so not looking forward to doing jury duty again Monday. If this drags on much longer I'm going to have to master parallel parking very quickly.

I'm too busy killing main characters to do a SYTYCD write up this week, but people, there's going to be a Russian Folk Dance. That's almost as good as crump.

Progress!

Added over 1000 words to my [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon fic. If I can repeat this feat over the next few days, I'll actually be in good shape the meet the first draft deadline on the 11th. It's, um, taking longer to get to the plot than I'd first envisioned, but I should finally be able to work in Character #2 after this next section, and I'm managing to use a character the prompt had requested, which I hadn't been confident I'd be able to do.

I'm not sure if this is any good, mind; I'm happy with the voice so far, but I'm worrying as always that I'm indulging in way too much set up. Sigh.

I'm not allowing myself to work on any Watchmen fic until I have this finished, and that includes the 3/4 done follow-up to Reflections. I will not bend!

Check out this interview Robert Englund did with fear.net, mostly about the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. He's just so classy about the whole thing, and he has nothing but praise for Jackie Earle Haley. So many people would be bitter about being replaced in the the franchise he made, but Englund is nothing but generous and good natured. It makes me want to watch Dream Warriors again.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon writer,

Hi! Yeah, I know, there was a lot of Watchmen in those prompts. I am flailingly in love with that canon. But if Watchmen really isn't your bag or if none of those prompts appeals to you do not feel pressured to give them a try. Write whichever one sings the loudest; I'll be thrilled with any of the five.

On a related [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon note: man, I am just comically bad at trying to prompt predict. But I think I know what I'm going to do; even if this isn't a fandom I've really written before, it is my favorite character in that fandom. This will be an exciting experiment!

Wait, there's no Lost tonight? What're they showing? Is it a recap? (In a way I'm glad, because it gives me more time to wrestle my [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest fic into submission. BTW, does anyone remember what Peter's cute paramedic partner was named? Yes, those last two sentences are related.:)

It's that time again!

Fandom voting for [livejournal.com profile] apocolyptothon is going on here. Vote for your fandom! And when you're done, vote for Watchmen!:) It's right on the bubble of being included right now and I am not above shameless begging to make that happen.

Even if you don't want to write in the ficathon you can still nominate fandoms. Go! Vote! (for Watchmen!:)
