I know this is relevant to some of your interests: there's going to be new Sailor Moon sometime next summer! It looks like it's essentially going to be a reboot, a new adaptation of the manga, but it's confirmed that Kotono Mitsuishi and Tohru Furuya will be reprising their roles as Usagi and Mamoru.

(I'm actually not the biggest fan of the manga, but this does mean the new anime will feature my Dark Kingdom boys! With pretty animation!)

Quick PSA: I don't know if it was the recent code push or what, but I found out last night that at some point AO3 had eaten a chapter of Outrun My Gun (just gone! I cannot properly communicate my horror when I was looking it over and it jumped from chapter 5 to chapter 7), so you might want to look over any multi-chapter fics you have there to see if this is a wide spread thing or just my usual fantastic luck with technology. /o\

Posted fic yesterday! Draw And Release: Avengers, Clint/Coulson, Clint gives Coulson an impromptu archery lesson. Because honestly, there should be a whole ficathon just about that.:)

I cannot adequately express how happy this existing makes me:

Ahem. As you were.

LJ! How I've missed you! *hugs!* I can answer comments!

DDOS attacks aside, I've been so buried in RL work that I haven't been able to touch my computer in days. That's going to be the state of affairs for this weekend too, sadly, but I'm carving out some happy internet/writing time tonight in the desperate hope I can get this story done.

I did have a remarkably good day. Nice, quiet, Got Stuff Done. I hate to say it, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that my supervisor has been out for three days. I love the woman, I do, but she's a walking ball of stress and she makes everyone around her a ball of stress.

What else...ooh, yes, on Tuesday I came home to find the fairies had left Supernatural: the Anime on my doorstep (because my family loves me and wants me to be happy and enables my dorkiness). I haven't gotten the chance to do more than stare lovingly at the cover, but I'm looking forward to it. There's a good mix of anime original content mixed in the the episode retellings, and I can't tell you how pleased I am to have new sort-of canon to carry me through the long, long wait until Sept. 13. And honestly? I'm really interested in how Sam and Dean talk in Japanese. I've never seen a Western show translated into Japanese like this (plenty the other way around, of course) and I'm wondering if my guesses will be on target. I'm betting that Dean's the type to throw omae around when he's not playing a role, and I'm wondering if Sam will be using boku in the beginning and if that will change (the time span mixes seasons 1 & 2, ending with "All Hell Breaks Loose."). And I'm really curious what Sam will call Dean in Japanese; I can't think off the top of my head of an anime where a younger brother calls the elder by name all the time, so it should be some kind of honorific. Nii-chan feels a little young. Ani-ki, maybe?

(This is why I'm hoping they do further seasons so we can get to the angels, aside from the fact that anime loves drawing angels: I'm dying to know how they'll talk. What "you" will Cas use? Would he use a different one for Dean? (doujins would spontaneously spring into being if that were the case. Would it start to drift as he starts falling in S5? Would the angels use the same gender divided way of speaking as the humans or would Anna's word choice be the same as Cas or Uriel's? Language is awesome!)

Yes, I'm a nerd. As you were.

Thirty Days of Fanfiction Day Nine:

9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?

Supernatural is obviously Dean/Cas and...hmm. I have a Uriel/Cas story waiting patiently on my hard drive right now, and I'm writing Dean/Cas/Lisa for my Birthdayfest fic in Sept. I like Cas/Anna, especially the bittersweet, longing Cas/Anna, and I like Dean/Cas/Anna even more (I have a half-plotted out "When The Levees Break" AU that goes along those lines). And I have a real fondness for Cas/Jo; I have a half-plotted out "Abandon All Hope" AU that goes in that direction.

But still, even the fics where he isn't with Dean he's still with Dean, if that makes any sense. If there isn't some profound bonding going on it doesn't feel right to me. Sigh. My OTP, let me show you it.

In Heroes I was all about Peter/Claude and to a lesser extent Claude/Bennet. Claude was what got me writing Heroes in the first place and no other character really stepped up to fill that role once he was gone. He was basically my Castiel for that fandom.

For Doctor Who my pairing was Doctor/Rose, especially Nine/Rose. I also ship Jack/Doctor (especially Jack/Doctor/Rose) and Fitz/Doctor, because Fitz is adorable.

Left 4 Dead 2, the only pairing I write is Nick/Ellis, and in JLU I ship Question/Huntress hard.

Goals for the day:

1) Finish editing that fic and post already, because Good Lord the slacking I've been doing.

2) Finish my piece for [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence.

3) What at least 500 words on a WIP. Something must get done.

Everyone remember news about Madhouse studios (of Vampire Hunter D and Trigun fame) putting out a Supernatural anime? Well apparently that all wasn't some fever dream and is a thing that's actually happening. In fact, there's even a trailer (complete with a cover of "Wayward Son!")

misachan: (Saitou smoking)
I had a dream last night I was watching a game show on what I guessed was Animal Planet. It was some variation of Wipe-Out; the contestants had picked out animals they wanted to adopt and if they got through the course the fees would be waived and they would receive free food and vet care for a year. There were the usual schmoopy videos featuring the contestants and the adorable animals, and I'm pretty sure one woman was talking to the (visible) ghost of her dead husband.

So that was odd. Although I would definitely watch that show. Even with the ghost.

1. COMMENT WITH A MYSTERIOUS COMMENT OF YOUR CHOICE.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Post the names of five fictional characters and your thoughts on each.

[livejournal.com profile] isilrandir gave me S.

Susan Ivanova: (Babylon 5) Always obey the Babylon 5 mantra: "Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out."

Simon Archard: (Ruse, CrossGen Comics) Simon is all of Sherlock Holmes worst character traits dialed up to eleven: he's arrogant, rude, incredibly impressed with himself and ruthlessly brilliant. His assistant is essentially a god and even that barely impresses him. I adored Ruse and Simon was my favorite character in CrossGen. Needless to say I'm over the moon that Marvel is restarting Ruse in a few months. Simon is going to break the world. It will be awesome.

Saitou Hajime: (Rurouni Kenshin) If they could create a character expressly for me, Saitou is what they would come up with. Principled and ruthless and defined by his personal definition of honor, Saitou is my favorite character in all of anime and he's easily in the top ten of favorite characters ever. And no one works a cigarette like him.

Sarah: (The Crow) Oh, my girl. You can't imagine how distraught I was when I saw Crow 2 and witnessed what they did to my street-smart, caring, brave little kid. The idea of her mentoring a new Crow was a good one --- I just wish the execution hadn't been so wretched.

Seth Bullock: (Deadwood) I love conflicted lawfuls. You show me a character who's trying hard to deny his impulse to make things right, who just want the world to leave them be, who's torn between what they've been told and what they feel (oh hi, Cas), and I am there. Bullock spends the entire first season trying desperately to not be Deadwood's sheriff --- except that he leads the posse after Wild Bill's killer, continually butts heads with the town's criminal elements and can't keep his nose out of everyone's business. By the end of the season it's clear to everyone that he's the only man for the job --- and then Bullock's real problems start.:)

I have WIP-itis. And I'm pretty sure I'm writing something only I will ever want to read. Send help.

There's a new Trigun movie in the works. It's being produced by Yasuhiro Nightow, who wrote the manga, and Satoshi Nishimura, who directed the anime, and according to the article will feature Wolfwood, which is pretty much all I need to hear.

Not shiny enough? How about a new Slayers series? No details on this yet, but still! Slayers!
