So it looks like I will not be getting a Pellaeon figure in the new set of Star Wars minis. The set titled Imperial Entanglements<. Because that apparently that would make too much sense. (They made Thrawn sets and sets ago, and there's a new Thrawn in IE. Why does WOTC insist on giving me Holmes but not Watson?)

Oh, but do you know who is in Imperial Entanglements? Go ahead, guess. That's right, Kyp Frakking Durran, eating up a Rare slot. And what makes it extra galling is that one of the upcoming sets is Jedi Academy, the books Kyp appeared in. Oh Kyp, you emo-boy dark-siding sun-crushing Gary Stu, my hate is so strong I should be able to shoot force lightning out of my fingers.

***

When I started this post the FLAMES were just about Pellaeon being snubbed (again!), but then I saw this. We have to band together to stop this abomination. Such a thing cannot be.

Non spoilery: I loved Dark Knight.

Everyone's pretty much covered Joker and Two-Face by now, so I want to talk about Jim Gordon. )

On a related note, I got carried away in [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's journal with how I would write the next Bat movie here. Oops. Sorry.:) (But it does have Riddler! And Catwoman!)

Guy Ritchie to write and direct Sherlock Holmes "reimagining." The article goes on to claim that Holmes will be made "more adventuresome" and "less stuffy," proving that no one making this film has ever heard the words "Jeremy Brett."

I see FAIL written all over this project in big blinking letters. Especially if he casts Jason Statham. Good Lord. And I thought the Russel Crowe rumor was bad.

Now Hugh Laurie, he would make a good Holmes.

I actually saw Iron Man at the midnight showing (because my boyfriend and I are those kinds of nerds) and meant to comment on it then, but I wanted to wait until I had the chance to write a really good review. So yeah, two weeks later....:)

Iron Man )

Speed Racer )

In short, Speed Racer deserves to be doing better at the box office. It certainly deserves to be doing better than When in Vegas. Ugh.

I'm sitting here watching RAW, so of course there are approxmimately 20 jillion commercials for In the Name of the King and I swear that movie looks like it was made for about fifty dollars. Now I know this is a Uwe Boll production and I can only expect so much, but there's one scene in the commercial where the army is massing in front of a castle that is clearly a matte painting. Now if the special effects are so sloppy I can spot a matte painting shot during a two second glance during a commercial, what in God's name does the actual movie look like? I half-expect the guys from Be Kind, Rewind to run across the screen. Only Uwe Boll movies could have sweded versions with better production values.

Seriously though, what does the man do with his money? I'm torn between believing that he's doing massive amounts of blow in his off-time or just tosses all the money he saves into his own personal money bin and swims in it like Scrooge McDuck.

Score!

The Gamestop in the mall where I play D&D usually has a good number of dirt-cheap used DVDs, so after game on Saturday I stopped in to browse the 3 for $10 shelf while everyone else was playing magic.

I walked out with the entire Yami no Matsuei DVD series. All four disks! I'd only had the series on crappy VHS fansub, and not even all of it (I was missing the boat arc, which is my favorite just for Tsuzuki's adorable attempts to speak English). And here was the whole thing on DVD for about $12!

I also picked up Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Pride of the Yankees to round out the second 3 for $10, so I felt like I found myself a pretty good deal. Happy day for me, especially since I had been feeling bittersweet about my long-running campain ending that day. We gave it a good ending, but it's always hard to leave a character and a world you've been playing in so long.

In other good news, I passed my typing test today, so I'm one step closer to rejoining the ranks of the employed. Yay, me.

Radio static is the most terrifying sound in the universe (spoilers) )

I changed my start up sound to Lexx. I'm not sure if that really counteracts the Daleks. And now I'm craving a Doctor Who/Lexx crossover.
