Honestly, I'd love a SHIELD movie, just two hours of Coulson and Widow and Hawkeye being awesome without the superheroes getting their nonsense over everything.

Also, while I have not seen this week's episode yet I've spoiled myself just enough know that my favorite bit of S7 fanon has apparently become canon. I no lie clapped my hands like seal when I found out.

In less squeeful news, apparently no Hunger Games tomorrow. Aw well. This give me time to run to the comics shop, I guess.

I watched Hour of the Gun on TCM on demand this afternoon (because I will watch anything involving Doc Holliday and not starring Kevin Costner) and I think it's actually slashier than Tombstone. I did not think that was possible. There's a scene where Doc confronts Wyatt about his mad vengeance quest - Wyatt has so far gone out of way to kill everyone associated with Ike Clanton instead of arresting them - and tries to get Wyatt to take a swing from his whiskey flask. When Wyatt refuses Doc needles him more, telling him "If you're gonna kill like me you might as well drink like me, too."

And then there's another scene where Doc tries again to pull Wyatt back, telling him if he kills Ike without even the paper sanction of the law there's be no coming back, that the law means too much to Wyatt and, I quote, "You can't live the way I do." I lost count of how many scenes there were of Doc just skulking around watching Wyatt and a good chunk of the movie is just the two of them alone, together on the hunt.

Also, movie, you can't have Wyatt Earp gun down Ike Clanton in Mexico and still claim "This is how it really happened." Really, now.

OH HEY Look who broke 20K this weekend! I didn't get any other writing done (I'm working on a fill for the WAFFathon and trying to finish at least one of comment fics I owe) but yay, 20K! I'm now confident this is a story that will be finished!

Also, the goalposts have moved from 20K to 30K, since I reached 20K without, y'know, actually being done. (*sigh*) I think 30K is reasonable? God, I hope so; I need to get this done so I can start putting down words for

spn_j2_bigbang.

Okay, so I did the math and if I can force myself to just write one scene per day I can put this to bed by March 22nd, so I'm setting that as my mental due date. Now obviously some scenes are short and there'll be days where I can do more than one, but then there will also be days where I'm mired in some kind of wordy quicksand and will get nothing done, but I'm hoping that will even out. If I can meet that deadline then I have well over a month to work on my

spn_j2_bigbang.

People who know Tumblr better than me (which is everyone!): Did someone rec Torn over there a few days ago? I've gotten a bunch of comments on that story over the past few days (yay!) and one of them was signed with a tumblr name so that's why I think it came from there.

Aw, this is sad. RIP Davy Jones. My tiny self watched the Monkees TV show every morning before kindergarten and Daydream Believer is as close to a perfect pop song as you're ever going to find.

Y'know, it occurs to me that my

super_disney fic could be carrying the unintended message of "Stockholm Syndrome = Yay!", considering the whole premise is that Cas kidnaps Dean, then despite being pissed off at first Dean gradually comes to understand and sympathize with him until at the end they wind up together. And I'm not sure that it being a semi-accidental kidnapping really helps, all things considered.

At least Cas feels really, really bad about it?

Oh well. I'm 11k in. Too late now.

Spent my day off to break 9K on my

super_disney fic! If game ends early enough to night I'm hoping to get to 10K; there's an action sequence next and and then some h/c (because let's be honest, this is me) and that usually flows pretty well.

(And yes, my brain has apparently decided I should try to write three big bang-ish fics. Because it hates me.)

dark_fest prompt claiming is now a go! I don't think I'm grabbing anything this round (as mentioned, writing All The Things), but this is probably my favorite fest and in general I love seeing what prompts people claim.

(But guys. Guys. THIS PROMPT: Supernatural, Castiel/Dean, When Castiel loses control during sex, he leaves marks seared into Dean's skin. Dean hates how much he likes it. Someone please take it so I don't have to.)

super_disney continues apace! (And I successfully managed to not bow to temptation and grab another prompt because seriously, no.) It's at about 3600 words now, which is right around the rate I wanted to have, and can I just say how nice it is to have a story that just flows for once. I mean, knock on wood and all that, but when I was writing A Star to Steer Her By there were whole sections where I could only write two lines before everything ground to a halt. This is a nice change! Here's hoping it stays this way (and that this isn't a sign the big bangs aren't going to be more teeth pulling sessions.)

Oh God, just spent almost five hours cleaning All The Things. My ankles are so angry at me right now. And how did I acquire all these DVDs? And how were none of them in any kind of order? Every time I sorted the movie section and had it done and perfect I would turn around and find more and all the shelves would have to shift down and over and there was no end to it!

In better, fic related news (because that's always better) my posting day for

jimmybigbang is set for the 21st, I sent my draft to my artist and there may be previews of art soon. HEE. EXCITE.

(Incidentaly, I don't know how you artists manage to make such amazing art on such a quick turn around time. We have months to poke at our stories and the artists only get a fraction of that to art. You guys are all awesome, is what I'm saying.)

I also managed to put a little over 2K on my

super_disney fic. I'm hoping I can manage to have Dean and Cas meet properly tonight. Well, they've met, but Dean doesn't remember. Bwahaha.:)

I finally saw Tangled! It was just as cute as everyone said it would be. I actually liked it a lot more than I did The Princess and the Frog (which I also liked! but I also thought it was a very careful movie, if that makes any sense? Like they made sure to hit all the Disney notes point by point. If the whole movie had been as cool and daring as the art deco scene and the "Friends on the Other Side" song it would have been a stronger movie. I digress.)

So I finished my outline for my

sncross_bigbang and, um...guys, should outlines be 1300 words? I think I'm doing this wrong. Now I'm trying to avoid the mistakes of my Outrun My Gun outline, where I'd write "Dean and Cas haunt Sam as he summons crossroad demons, goes hunting, etc." and that would mutate from one line in the outline to pages and pages and pages in reality, but I'm starting to get worried on just how long this is going to be.(!)

(For anyone not already bored to death, I "outline" by basically writing a one sentence or so summary of each scene. For example (not from anything): "Dean and Cas realize the room is trapped but can't get out of the way before ring of fire catches them both - they go back to back as the demons swarm in and then FIGHT." Sometimes a line or two of dialogue if I want to make sure I remember it.

This is a lot of scenes, is what I'm saying!)

Gah. I didn't make anywhere near the progress I wanted to this weekend, but on the bright side I did manage to finish some fics for

fandom_stocking, so at least some writing happened, even if it wasn't the writing I was hoping for. /o\ (Mine is here).

Okay, I realize that's not the most inspiring of word counts, but I've finally got them on the road and the next part (I hope!) should flow pretty well. Really, really hoping, because up through the weekend I'm going to be full bore on my

spn_in_space fic; it's been going too slow and I need to push through the block. I know where I need to be and it's just a matter of typing until the words work.

On a possibly related note, did you all know Niska is not a nice man? And that he, on occasion, does bad, bad things?

Everyone needs to needs gaze upon this awesome pic of Bucky Barnes by

digitalwave (a manip of this equally gaze-worthy pic of Sebastian Stan). We need the Winter Soldier in the movieverse immediately, especially if he's going to swan around looking like that.

I want someone to write a fic where Steve gets word that Bucky might be alive and latches onto it like a drowning man on a plank of driftwood, only of course the other Avengers tell him there's no way it can be true, it's a Hydra trap, Steve, don't fall for it and so on and so forth. Just as Steve's about to lose hope Rhodey shows up and says he'll fly him out there as long as Cap will smooth things over with Fury when they get back. And when Steve asks why Rhodey's doing this crazy thing he just shrugs and says he remembers when everyone told him looking for Tony was a lost cause, and he didn't listen either.

And then they go and have a big adventure and become bros, and Steve's just relieved to be around a soldier again instead of gods and spies and everyone else he's met since he woke up.

Honestly, I'd just really like Avengers fic that remembers Rhodey exists.

I am severely unamused that the week is almost over. How did that happen? Why can't I fall into an unattended money bin so I can be a full time lady of leisure?

Anyway, tomorrow we're heading out to Plymouth Rock and going aboard the Mayflower, weather permitting. I will attempt to take pictures. Also, earlier I caught a little bit of the Crow and that relieved some of my end-of-vacation despair. (It probably says ~things~ about me that my two biggest comfort movies are The Crow and Watchmen.) If I didn't already know what I was doing for

jimmybigbang I would be tempted by the idea of an everything goes wrong 4.20 AU where Castiel never comes back from Heaven, Jimmy, Amelia and Claire all die and then Jimmy comes back with Crow powers and just starts tearing things up.

aerilex's capable hands, so by tomorrow I should know whether I should just scrap that idea and try again. *sigh*

spn_in_space: didn't get as much done as I wanted this week, but I managed to poke at it. I still need to figure out what happens between the major THING and the end, because otherwise I'm just being needlessly mean to Cas. And in fairness, I'm normally pretty mean to him, but I like to think I'm not needlessly mean.

How did the week go for the rest of you? How are all of your projects coming along?

I signed up for GISHWES! At least, I think I did; I had to edit the email and resubmit it, and there's always the possibility I failed the essay portion of the exam. But nothing is being announced until the 18th from what I gather, so we'll see if I managed to do this right.

It is killing me that

dc_dystopia's time frame is exactly the same as

jimmybigbang's (the rough drafts are literally due within days of each other) because it hit me that would be the perfect excuse to write the SPN/24 crossover I've been kicking around the past few months.

OR! Or my 2014!Cas-does-drugs-because-Lucifer-keeps-walking-through-his-dreams idea! That would also work! Why does everything cool have to go on at the same time?!?

So last night I had a dream where I was watching Human Target (God, I miss my show) where the case wound up taking a decidedly supernatural turn. The team all brainstormed what to when Guerrero walked in, heard the story, said, "I know a guy" and called up Bobby (because Guerrero and Bobby both know everyone.) Bobby sent in Sam and Dean with Cas along for the ride; when they all walked in Guerrero took one look at Cas and said, "Hey bro, been a while," just as cool as you please. Apparently Guerrero had pulled a Gabriel, only instead of an angel pretending to be a trickster he was an angel slumming it as a human assassin.

That was as far as I got before Lexi in all her grace knocked something over and woke me up, and I'm not sure how I feel about my brain coming up with that. On hand, the concept that Guerrero essentially fell for Chance the way Cas fell for Dean amuses me, and I like the image of the two of them sighing over their pain in the ass humans. On the other hand, one of the things I like most about Guerrero is that he has a kid, and I don't even know if vesseled angels can do that. I mean, Jesse Turner being conceived in a demon-possessed body made him the antichrist.

Although the idea that Guerrero's son might be the Second Coming is hilarious.

deancas_xmas continues apace! I'm aiming to have this done by this weekend so I can work on my

I actually did wrote some more of the spacey one this week (River and Cas talking about broken things. *smooshes them both*) It needs a little bit more plotting - I know how it ends, and a major thing that happens before that, I just need to pin down what happens between - but I'm hoping I can have that down by this weekend, once I get the

deancas_xmas out of the way.

3) The other reason I want the

deancas_xmas out of the way is because I'm going on vacation! In a few short days I should be up at the Cape, happily getting puppy snuggles and having a whole week of sweet, sweet nothing.
